TMJ TREATMENT (TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT)
The Temporomandibular Joint or TMJ is the joint formed by the temporal bone (at the base of the skull) and the lower jaw or maxilla.
It is located between the condyle of the mandible, the eminence and the articular fossa of the temporal bone.
There are two synovial joints on each side, covered by fibrous connective tissue and reinforced by two ligaments, which work synchronously.
In both joints there is a meniscus or cartilaginous disc between the glenoid cavity and the condyle of the jaw (as we can see in the previous image). This disc protects the joint and provides stabilization in its rotation and translation movements.
This technique is based on pressures, mobilizations and stretches at the fascial level that take advantage of the colloidal properties of collagen to influence the shape of the fascia, working on the structures at the superficial and internal level, with manual therapy and percutaneous neuromodulation.
