PERCUTANEOUS NEUROMODULATION (Nfd or Nmp)
With the application of Percutaneous Neuromodulation, physiotherapists are able to intervene in the functioning of the nervous system, both peripheral and central, managing to change anomalous neurofunctional patterns in order to improve dysfunction and pain.
WHAT DOES IT CONSIST OF?
First, needles are inserted into specific areas of the body (spine and extremities), following nerve pathways, with the help of an ultrasound. Next, an electrical current of low, medium or high frequency and tolerable intensity is applied. The technique is completely painless, quick and has no side effects. The only thing the patient notices is the contraction movement of the associated muscles.
